1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Have you ever felt that because you are just one person, you can’t influence positive change in your organization? This class explores this myth. You CAN make a difference!
“Can’t We All Just Get Along?” - Conflict Resolution in the Fire House
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: We live together, sleep together, eat together, and endure many difficult challenges as firefighters. Sometimes, like all families, we have problems and disagreements. This class focuses on how to address these issues quickly and effectively.
“Pushing the Firefighter ‘Reset’ Button” - Avoiding Burnout
1.5 -2.0 Hours: Are you feeling like your career is in a rut? Do you have trouble getting excited about going to work? This is normal, we’ve all been there. This class explores how to snap out of it and get back to loving being a firefighter.
“The Ten Percenters; An Exclusive Club But its Doors are Open”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: What does it take to be in the top 10% of your organization? How can you be your very best? This course looks at the characteristics of highly successful people and how you can apply them in your department.
“Think Before You Type” - Responsible Social Media Use by Firefighters
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Social media is now a part of our daily lives, and it’s here to stay. This class explores how and why people misuse social media as well as how to prevent firefighters from potential problems related to its use.
“The Value of Networking in the Fire Service”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: There is a whole world outside the walls of your fire department. This class focuses on why it is so important to look at new and different methods of doing things as well as the value of new views and opinions.
“Are You a Coachable Firefighter?”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: This class is a self-assessment which asks us to look at ourselves and evaluate whether or not we are coachable. Are we open to new ideas? Can we accept criticism? Are we willing to improve? Can we accept change? Do we want to truly be the best we can be?
“Risk Management & Firefighter Injury Prevention”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Keeping our firefighters safe is a top priority. This class asks us to take a step back and look at our operations in a new way. We will explore and discuss ways to minimize and lower work related risks.
“Leadership Without Rank”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: This is our flagship program and how Command Leadership Concepts got its start. Too many firefighters think that because they aren’t in an official officer role, that they can’t effectively lead. We totally disagree and this class debunks this fire service myth.
“Promoting Your Fire Department on a Zero Budget”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Public relations and marketing of our organizations is vital to our success. However, we generally spend very little time and resources on this responsibility. This class will give you lots of easy ways to engage with your community with little or no funding needed.
“Improving Internal Communication Within Your Department”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: A top complaint from firefighters is that they often feel like they don’t know what’s going on in their organization. This creates rumors and bad information being passed around. Let us help you stop this problem, start communicating, and get all of your staff on the same page.
“Real Firefighter Courage”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: We all know that it takes courage to enter burning buildings and to rescue victims. But, many other facets of the fire service also require strong courage. This course explores the courage it takes to be a successful firefighter and a strong leader.

“Gratitude for the Job - Never Forget Your First Day”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: You probably remember getting the call or opening the letter notifying you that you had been hired as a firefighter. Never let that joy be diminished. This is the best career on the planet and we can never forget it. This class discusses the importance of being grateful.
“Let Us Remember to Thank Our Mentors”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Who was your mentor? An instructor at the academy? A lieutenant? A senior firefighter? This class is focused on how important these individuals are to us as individuals and to the entire fire service. Also, we will discuss how to pay it forward and serve as mentors for others.
“What Does ‘Unlimited Passion’ Mean to You?”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Do you love this job? Do you REALLY love it? This course explores what it means to truly have a passion for the work we do and how we can get others on board to feel the same way.
“Just Be Nice. Is it Time for a Kinder, Gentler Fire Service?”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Call them grumpy, salty, or many other terms, but often they are just plain mean. How and why do we end up with negative attitudes and callous people in the fire service? This class explores this tough topic.
“Fire/EMS Customer Service 24/7”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Are you really delivering a high quality service to your community? Every call? Every shift? Even when you are tired, hungry, or not feeling well? Let’s evaluate your department’s customer service and look for ways to improve.
“Collaboration with Local Industry in Your Service Area”
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: Residential structure fires, EMS calls, traffic crashes: piece of cake, right? What about steel mills, oil refineries, power plants, major manufacturing facilities, large warehouses? This course explores our responsibility to foster strong relationships and implement adequate response plans and training programs with industry in our community.
“Today’s Current Events” – A Q/A Session About Recent Topics
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: An open forum to talk about all of the hot topics in today’s fire service. This is a loose and fun session with debate and learning in a group setting.

"Transitioning Your Volunteer Department to Combination or Career and Making it Work"
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: This class will walk the attendee through a case study of a volunteer department as it transitioned to a combination department made of career and part time staff. We will discuss what went well, and what didn’t. I will share the do’s, don’t’ s, tips, and lessons learned about this difficult task.

"Part-Time Firefighters: The Good, The Bad, The Successful"
1.5 – 2.0 Hours: This class focuses on the challenges of utilizing part time firefighters. Pros, cons, etc. It gives the attendee an overview of the benefits as well as the difficulties. We answer questions such as: how do part-time firefighters fit in? How do we merge them with career and volunteer staff? This is a great session for departments currently utilizing or considering the use of part-time firefighters.
